Get Kicked Out
One of the core ideas behind DownBeat Lab is something that sounds negative at first.
Getting kicked out.
On most platforms, the goal is to stay. Build followers, grow your numbers, and remain visible for as long as possible.
DownBeat Lab is built differently.
The goal is not to stay on the platform. The goal is to outgrow it.
Getting kicked out means you reached your goal. It means your music is getting real traction outside of the platform. It means you no longer need this space.
And that is the point.
DownBeat Lab is meant to be a starting place for new and low stream artists. A place where discovery is actually possible, without being buried under millions of tracks or competing against artists who already have reach.
But it is not meant to be permanent.
Artists come in with a goal. They have a fixed amount of time to grow. If they reach that goal, they get kicked out.
That is a good thing.
It creates motivation. It gives artists something clear to work toward. It also keeps the platform fresh, constantly making room for new artists to be discovered.
Instead of a system where the same names stay at the top, this creates a cycle.
Artists come in, grow, leave, and make space for the next group.
This is still evolving, and I will be sharing more about how the kick out process actually works in future Lab Notes.
But the idea is simple.
Getting kicked out is not failure.
It is success.
