Lab Notes is where I’ll be documenting the thinking behind DownBeat Lab.

DownBeat Lab is built around a simple idea: there are a lot of artists making good music that never get heard. Not because the music isn’t good, but because discovery today favors what already has attention.

This platform is focused on changing that.

It’s designed for new and low-stream artists to have a space where they can actually be discovered, without competing against artists who already have reach. At the same time, it’s built for listeners who want to find something new and feel like they’re part of an artist’s growth from the beginning.

This blog will go deeper into how that’s being built.

I’ll be sharing ideas, decisions, and the reasoning behind different parts of the platform. Some things will evolve over time, but everything here is part of building a better way for artists to get heard and for music to be discovered.
